8 AWESOME TIPS

  • Practice!!!
  • Take the ACT at least twice, but probably more. Before each test, take at least one full length practice test under timed conditions.

  • Get to know the testing environment
  • Visit your test site before the day of the test. This way you won't get lost and you will be accustomed to the atmosphere.

  • Pace yourself
  • Know the timing for each test and plan accordingly. Don't assume you'll get finished without practicing with the time constraints, because you won't.

  • Know what to read and what to skim
  • Feel this out as you take more and more practice tests. Practice is the only thing that will help with this skill.

  • Answer the easier questions first
  • All ACT questions are worth the same value. Some are harder than others, so don't waste all your time on the hard ones. Answer the easy ones correctly and then go back later and answer the hard ones as best you can.

  • Decide how you'll mark your answer document
  • How will you show that you've skipped a question so you don't forget to return? Will you go back at the end with 60 seconds left and fill in the rest of the answers you skipped?

  • Develop a strategy for guessing
  • When all else fails, DON'T JUST ANSWER C!!!

  • Write in your test booklet
  • Use it for all your scratch work. And, don't just use it on the Math test. It's useful on the other tests as well.
